A Mid-Year Benediction

6/30/2025

We've reached the midpoint of the year. Perhaps you're as surprised as I am. Some days I find myself thinking that 2025 is painfully slow. Other days, I grieve at the quickening pace of anger, injustice, and outright change.

Today, on the last day of the first half of this year, I found myself wanting to offer a simple blessing. Maybe you need it. I know I do.
Halfway through the year, we pause.
Not because we have to... but because we can.

May you look back with tenderness at all that has been:
the small victories you forgot to celebrate,
the losses you’re still holding quietly,
the ordinary days that carried you anyway.

May you look ahead with courage:
not because you know what’s coming,
but because you know who you are:
beloved, resilient, enough.

May your rest be real.
May your hope be stubborn.
May your joy be defiant.
May your kindness—to yourself and to others—be your daily prayer.

And when you falter (because you will),
may grace meet you right where you are,
and lead you forward, one small step at a time.

Blessings on the rest of your journey, friends.
