St. Giles hosted the high school youth mission team from Gettysburg Presbyterian Church over the weekend, as they prepare for a week of repairing homes throughout Greenville County. It was such a thrill for me to preach a dialogue sermon with Rev. Lou Nyiri, the associate pastor at GPC. Lou's ministry in Gettysburg began in 1996, becoming my pastor when I was in the fourth grade!
Here's our two [make that three-and-a-half] minute recap video of our sermon "Being Seen," which was based on 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13.

I enjoyed the opportunity to preach on Pentecost Sunday this year. Here is my recap video of yesterday's sermon based on a familiar passage from Acts 2.
Here's a recap video of a sermon preached at St. Giles on the Third Sunday of Easter, based on the post-Easter narrative found in Luke 24:36-48. In worship on Sunday morning, we began the scripture reading with verse 30, in order to examine the narrative's transition from the Emmaus Road encounter to what follows in verses 36-48.
I preached a sermon entitled "High and Mighty" (based on Mark 11:1-11) as we marked the beginning of Holy Week with our Palm Sunday worship yesterday. Here's my two minute recap of that sermon.
Here's the video recapping my sermon from yesterday, March 4, 2018, entitled "A Little Spring Cleaning." The sermon was based on John 2:13-22, where we find Jesus overturning tables in the Temple.
Here's a recap video from February 4, 2018, reflecting upon my sermon "Beyond Compare" based on Isaiah 40:21-31.
My first two minute sermon recap video of 2018, touching on some of the high points of my sermon entitled "Praising God in the Company of the Congregation" based on Psalm 111.
The following is a recap of my sermon from the Christmas Eve services at St. Giles. My sermon was (naturally) based on Isaiah 9 and Luke 2. Merry Christmas!
From time to time, Matt and I preach dialogue sermons together. I honestly found the idea sort of intimidating at first, and certainly outside the comfort zone afforded by following the traditional "seminary-approved" methods of preaching (were there to be such a thing). Instead, it has become one of the many reasons that I have so much joy serving alongside such a creative soul at St. Giles.
A recap video summarizing my sermon entitled "Jesus Rains"** based on Ephesians 1:15-23, which I shared in the worship service at St. Giles on Sunday, November 26, 2017 as we celebrated Christ the King Sunday.
**Yes, the spelling of the sermon title is correct, although the play-on-words to which it refers didn't make it into my recap video. What can I say... two minutes of recording time flies by! |
